Walk: Bristol City

Thursday 18 November 2010

Meet at the top of the Christmas Steps and walk to the Foster's Alms Houses and visit the chapel of the Three Kings of Cologne. This was built in 1504 and restored in 1851 by Foster and Wood. Then walk up the hill past the medieval houses and St Michael's Church. It is not possible to enter this building as it is unsafe, however there is still chance to hear about its history. Also learn about the wealthy merchants' houses at the top of the hill. Stop at The Robin Hood pub for coffee before continuing down to the Colston's Alms Houses and the chapel there.
