Lecture: 'Gauguin - Genius or Madman?' by Evelyn Eaton
| Les Cotils Christian Centre
To coincide with the Gauguin exhibition at Tate Modern this autumn, Evelyn Eaton will explore the prediction made by Gauguin's teacher that he would 'either be a genius or a madman'. Paul Gauguin (1848-1903) pushed the style of impressionism from perception to conception, from appearance to experience and left the refinement of Western civilisation for the exoticism of the South Seas, where he evolved a non-naturalistic vision of the workd with a strong emphasis on colour. This illustrated lecture will provide an insight into his intriguing career.
