Visit: Bowes Museum

The Bowes Museum houses an internationally significant collection of fine and decorative arts in a grand, French style building.

On arrival, Lesley Taylor, Representative of the Northern region, will give a short introduction to the Museum. Then the Curator of the Textile Gallery, Joanna Hashagen, will lead a tour round the newly refurbished Gallery, where the three Madeleine Vionnet dresses, made for Lady Folet in 1934, are on display. These dresses were recently purchased with the help of an Art Fund grant.

After lunch, and a chance to see the famous silver swan, Harold Coutts will lead a tour round the newly opened Decorative Arts Gallery.
