Trip: Derbyshire

| Various Locations

Enjoy a long weekend in Derbyshire with visits to a number of sites.

See Hardwick Hall, built by Bess of Hardwick in the 1590s and remaining unaltered with its huge windows and high ceilings, making it one of the most spectacular buildings in England.

See Chatsworth, home of the Duke and Duchess of Devonshire, set in parkland and surrounded by beautiful gardens. This visit will include an introductory tour before the house is open to the public, allowing plenty of time to view the interior and exterior of this remarkable house.

At Haddon Hall, a fine house dating from the Middle Ages, it is possible to see the minstrels' gallery, state bedroom, Great Hall and extensive kitchens, as well as the walled garden.

At Derby Museum & Gallery see a collection of works by Joseph Wright of Derby.

See Kedleston Hall, designed by Robert Adam and lived in by the Curzon family since the 12th century. As well as an extensive collection of paintings, sculpture and furnishings, here is Lord Curzon's Eastern Museum, with objects acquired during his travels in Asia and while Viceroy of India.
