Lecture: 'New Worlds to Conquer - A History of American Art', by Eric Shanes (The Menhuin Hall)

| The Menhuin Hall

Ever since its advent in the 18th century, American art has dealt with the wealth of diverse experiences that arose from exploring a new continent. At first this manifested itself in landscape painting and art concerned with the extension of frontiers. However, in the mid 20th century a new visual language emerged and artists explored the mass culture that surrounds us all. This lecture will consider the works of many leading American artists.
