Visit: Doug Cocker's Studio and Fowlis Easter


The afternoon will begin at Doug Cocker’s studio at Lundie, By Dundee. Born in Perthshire in 1945, Doug Cocker has built up an international reputation with work exhibited in both public and private collections in Britain and North America. He has worked as a lecturer in sculpture at art schools in the British Isles, Canada and America. In 1990 Doug took the decision to become a full-time sculptor, since then he has become known for his meticulous craftsmanship in the varying styles and materials in which he works.

Later, visit the medieval church of St Marnoch at Fowlis Easter which is famous for its wall paintings and rood screen. A tour will be led by Adrian and Gillian Zealand who will talk about the history of this fascinating building.

The inspiration for Ian Dunsire’s design of the village Hall at Fowlis Easter was the stack yard in McIntosh Patrick’s painting “Autumn Kinnordy,” 1936. The architect himself will lead a tour.
