Visit: Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum and Hunterian Art Gallery

Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum is mounting an exhibition entitled "Pioneering Painters: The Glasgow Boys 1880-1900", the first major exhibition devoted to this influential group of artists since 1968. The exhibition comprises around 100 oil paintings and 50 works on paper, both from the Glasgow Museums' collections and from other public and private collections across the country.

At the same time the Hunterian Art Gallery has a complimentary exhibition, entitled "Aspects of Scottish Art 1869-1910", which is designed to put the Glasgow Boys in context with other artists who preceded and followed them.

Roger Billcliffe, author of a major book about the Glasgow Boys, will give a lecture in the lecture theatre of the Hunterian Gallery in the morning, after which there will be time to visit both exhibitions.
