Visit Nunwell House, a home of exceptional historical and architectural interest belonging to the Oglander Family since 1552 and final refuge of Charles I before his imprisonment at Carisbrooke Castle in 1647. Picnic lunch in the charming garden with fine views of the Solent. Thence to St. Michael’s Church, Shorwell, a large Perpendicular church with a rare St. Christopher wall painting c. 1440. Finally, a private invitation to the exclusive Royal Yacht Squadron for a guided tour of its fine portraits, artefacts and marine paintings, visit the library and have tea on the lawn.
