Visit: Mapperton and Makepeace
John Makepeace has been a key influence on modern British furniture design and so many of todays young cabinet makers have passed through his Dorset schools at Parnham and Kingcombe. He will give a guided tour around his beautiful Beaminster house and discuss his furniture.
Mapperton House needs no introduction either - one of England's finest manor houses, seat of the Earl of Sandwich, built in c. 1540 and enclosed by 17th century stables and wonderful gardens. Interior and contents of great interest: Tudor fireplaces, Jacobean furniture, work by the Bastard brothers, portraits by Lely and much else. Guided tour by the owner.
