Visit: Boughton House, Northamptonshire

| Boughton House

A private tour of Boughton House, the Northamptonshire home of the Dukes of Buccleuch and Queensberry, known as 'The English Versailles'. The modest medieval buildings, originally purchased by the Montagu family in 1528, were transformed under their stewardship, making Boughton one of the finest great houses of Europe. Views of the House reveal its extraordinary complexity, with 7 courtyards, 12 entrances, 52 chimney stacks and 365 windows. The special attraction of Boughton lies in the harmonious blending of its superb collections of paintings, furniture, tapestries, needlework, carpets, porcelain, arms and silver. Masterpieces from the Buccleuch art collection include works by El Greco, Murillo, Van Dyck and Gainsborough.
