Visit: Holkham Model Farms -Modern Conversions and Past Achievements
The agricultural revolution was well under way in the late 18th century
whent he Holkham estate, one of the leaders in reform, commissioned a number of
spectacular buildings from the architect Samuel Wyatt, including the Great
Shearing Barn and the Triumphal Arch, together with at least six model farms.
The farms convert into very attractive modern homes and architect Nicholas
Hills, who was responsible for converting the model farm that is now the home of
Lord and Lady Leicester, will be a guide for the day. Robin Ellis will
also show his working farm at Wellingham, which, though not by Wyatt, dates
from the same era and resembles a model farm.
