Open Days: Rothamsted Research

| Rothamsted Research

Rothamsted Research, in Harpenden, is the oldest agricultural research station in the world, and an Open Day is a unique opportunity to learn about what goes on there and the exciting new research. See scientific exhibits, with good art work and staff to explain and discuss what they are doing. Allocate a whole day to look at the exhibits, have a trailer tour of the estate, including field experiments dating back to 1843, enjoy light refreshments, listen to the jazz band or have a cream tea in the gardens of Rothamsted Manor House. Display boards about John Lawes, founder of Rothamsted Experimental Station, and Henry Gilbert, his chemist and co-director, will be sited in the library of the Rothamsted main building.
