Tour: Aldby Park, Buttercrambe

| Aldby Park

Aldby Park is an interesting early Georgian house built in 1726. Although damaged by fire in 1999, it was fortunately saved as was the famous painting of the Darley Arabian. A tour of the house followed by tea with the opportunity to visit the gardens overlooking the River Derwent. The grounds, which are reputed to be the site of the Saxon King Edwin’s palace, were laid out 1743-1746 by Thomas Knowlton, the gardener to Lord Burlington.
