Lecture: 'The Pirates of Barbary' by Adrian Tinniswood, HM Frigate UNICORN

| HM Frigate UNICORN

Adrian Tinniswood is a social historian and author of The Verneys, A life of Christopher Wren and Architecture from Ancient Times to the Present to name but a few of his many works. He is most often to be found lecturing at British and American universities or aboard one of the great Cunard liners.

This lecture will take place aboard HM Frigate Unicorn and will be on the subject of 'The Pirates of Barbary', the topic of his new book which is being published this year. The book explores the secret history of Barbary Coast piracy in the 17th century and beyond. It recreates a twilight world of the renegade and the corsair, conjuring up a dangerous and exotic milieu where Christian and Moslem met to swap religions, to trade slaves, and silks and to take each other's lives.
