Andrew Graham-Dixon is one of the country’s leading broadcasters on art. Formerly the chief art critic for The Independent and The Sunday Telegraph, Andrew has written and presented many acclaimed television series, including A History of British Art, Renaissance and, most recently, The Art of Russia. In this lecture, Andrew will discuss Michelangelo's most famous undertaking, the painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, commissioned by the Warrior Pope, Julius II. The lecture will explore the intriguing human story behind the ceiling's execution, as well as the hidden meanings and complex ambiguities in its imagery.
