Lecture: 'Dutch Landscapes' by Desmond Shawe-Taylor, Former Surveyor of the Queen's Pictures

An introduction to the exhibition of Dutch Landscapes at the Queen's Gallery, Edinburgh from 30 April to 3 October 2010. This lecture will consider what Dutch landscape painting meant to its original owners in seventeenth century Holland and what it meant to British collectors in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, including the monarchs (especially George IV) who acquired the breathtaking collection of works in the Royal Collection.
