Talk and View: Turner and the Masters

Enjoy a special viewing of Tate Britain’s major autumn event, along with a talk by one of the gallery’s curators. The exhibition presents a selection of paintings by Turner alongside many great works of Western art by Old Masters and artists who were working during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. One hundred major pieces from collections around the world have been brought together for this investigation into the influences on Turner’s art. The exhibition reveals his debts and rivalries in exciting – even unpredictable – ways, and explores his reputation as one of the greatest painters of landscape in the European tradition.
