Lecture: 'Journey of the River in the Company of Artists' by Alexandra Drysdale

| School Hall

Paintings by artists past and present will open our eyes to the beauty of the river: Constable, Turner, Stanley Spencer, Whistler, Michael Andrews, imaginary rivers by Millais and Waterhouse, and the spirituality of the river in the works of Cecil Collins and Peter Doig. ‘We will follow Whistler and Andrews down the Thames to the sea, but Turner will bring us home again’.

Alexandra is a graduate of Chelsea College of Art where she gained a First Class BA (hon) in Fine Art in 1985. She has been painting and exhibiting her work since then but is also a teacher of art and art history and is a popular lecturer for NADFAS and has just come back from a tour of Australia and New Zealand.
