Christmas event at The Mackintosh Church
| The Mackintosh Church at Queen's Cross
The only church designed by Mackintosh to be built, and now the headquarters of the Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society, is the venue for this annual Art Fund Christmas event, with thanks to the Society for exclusive access to the church for the evening. Magnificent stained glass and exceptional relief carving on wood and stonework are highlights of the interior where light and space are used to dramatic effect.
This year The Mackintosh Church also celebrates its 110th birthday with a special exhibition which focuses on the social history of the Mackintosh Church, its growth in the community and its place in the birth of the CRM Society. The exhibition is also part of Mackintosh 100, a series of events to mark the 100th anniversary of his masterpiece, the Mackintosh Building at The Glasgow School of Art.
