Visit: Carlton Club

| Carlton Club

Founded in 1832, the Carlton Club was designed as a party political organisation, just as other clubs after the Napoleonic War were founded to satisfy particular interests. The original site in Pall Mall was destroyed during a Second World War air raid, after which the Club took over the present premises, built in 1826-7 as Arthur’s Club. Many of the Club’s most valuable possessions – including portraits of Conservative prime ministers and their cabinets since the 18th century – survived the bombing, and can still be seen today. This is a unique opportunity to see the fine rooms and facilities, and to hear from the Secretary about the history of the club.
