Michael Legg is a third generation antiques dealer from Dorchester, Vice President of the Regional Furniture Society and one of the country's leading authorities in this field. Here he discusses aspects of timber, construction, evolution of design and the effects of time, atmosphere and household care, in order to illustrate how and what we know of the present state of old English furniture. He will mainly be using examples of oak and walnut furniture of the 17th and 18th centuries from Wolfeton. There is no better place in which to view furniture of this age and quality.
