Mapperton and Makepeace
| Mapperton House
John Makepeace has been a key influence on modern British furniture design and so many of today's young cabinet makers have passed through his Dorset schools at Parnham and Kingcombe. Here he gives a guided tour around his beautiful Beaminster house with a particular emphasis on his furniture.
Mapperton House is one of England's finest manor houses, seat of the Earl of Sandwich, built in c.1540 and enclosed by 17th century stables and wonderful gardens. Its interior and contents include a Tudor fireplace, Jacobean furniture, work by the Bastard brothers, portraits by Lely and much else. A guided tour by the owner.
