Since the Olympics of 1992, Barcelona has enjoyed its third golden age. This lecture concentrates on the city’s previous era of glory, between the great international exhibitions of 1888 and 1929, when Catalan artists and architects looked back to the first golden age of the late Middle Ages. The work of Antoni Gaud is placed in context, and the cultural life of Barcelona at that time is explored.
