Visit: Middle Temple and Temple Church

| Middle Temple and Temple Church

Temple takes its name from the Knights Templar, who owned the site for some 150 years. In 1608, James I granted the land and buildings to the ancient society of lawyers, the Inns of Court. On this visit, members are taken on a tour of Middle Temple, which includes the private Bench apartments and Hall. A three-course lunch will be served in the Great Hall, probably the finest of the surviving Elizabethan halls, completed in 1570. After lunch, members visit Temple Church for a talk by the Reverend Robin Griffith Jones, Temple Master.
