Visit to Great Fulford House and Culver House

| Great Fulford House

One of Devon's most historic houses Great Fulford is a Domesday manor near Dunsford which has been the home of the Fulford family since at least 1190. The present house was mainly constructed in the early 16th century and is a semi-fortified mansion built round a courtyard. It boasts a superb panelled Great Hall as well as a marvellous 17th century Great Staircase and other interesting 17th and 18th century rooms. The current Francis Fulford is the 23rd in line and he will guide you around his home. After the tour, repair to The Old Thatch at Cheriton Bishop for a sandwich lunch (own expense) or a picnic nearby. Culver House near Cheriton Bishop was built in 1836 but redesigned by the great Victorian architect Alfred Waterhouse in a Tudor style. Its handsome interiors have been used by the BBC as well as German and American film crews. Both houses are set in beautiful countryside. Afternoon tea will be provided as part of the package.
