Talk: The Future of Kensington Palace Garden

Landscape architect and historian Todd Longstaffe-Gowan discusses his role in the proposed re-presentation of the gardens at Kensington Palace for the Diamond Jubilee of HM The Queen in 2012. Historic Royal Palaces will soon embark on a major refurbishment of the late 17th-century palace and its historic pleasure grounds. The aim is to reconnect them to neighbouring Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park, to re-establish the historical integrity and coherence of the extensive royal gardens, and to make the whole a more welcoming destination for local residents and visitors alike. The recent restoration of the early 20th-century Cradle Walk in the palace’s celebrated Sunken Garden will also be discussed.
