Visit: Gorton Monastery, Manchester

| Gorton Monastery

The rescue and 6.5m restoration of Pugin's architectural masterpiece, the Church and Friary of St Francis, has been well documented over the past few years. This private tour offers the chance to see the magnificent restoration work of the Victorian Monastery. The tour will include an historical talk, a half hour video and a chance to try to understand the 'secret geometry' behind the dimensions and acoustics of the building.

Before the afternoon tour, the visit will begin at 12.30pm with lunch of 'wholesome hearty soup, sandwich, home-made cake with tea/coffee'. There is ample car parking at the site, and a street map will be sent with tickets. There is also a bus service (nos 205 & 206) and Ashburys Railway station is a ten minute walk away.
