Visit: Royal College of Physicians

| Royal College of Physicians

The Royal College of Physicians is the oldest medical college in England and holds a number of fine collections, including the Symons Collection of medical instruments from the 18TH and 19th centuries.

There are also a number of historical portraits and a collection of silver, many items of which are still in use today, including a 17th-century mace and a 16th century caduceus.

On this private tour, curator Bridget Telfer gives an introduction to the collections, which are on display in the college’s Grade 1 listed building, designed by Sir Denys Lasdun in 1959. The Art Fund recently helped the college purchase Portrait of a Physician by Cornelius Johnson.
