Visit and Talk: 'Byzantium' Exhibition at the Royal Academy

A private illustrated talk gives the background to the exhibition and focuses on key works. The exhibition begins with the foundation of Constantinople in 330AD and concludes with the capture of the city by the Ottomans in 1453. It highlights the splendours of the Byzantine Empire and comprises some 300 objects including icons, detached wall paintings, enamels and gold and silver metalwork, many not seen before.
