This visually sumptuous exhibition reveals Van Dyck’s unique impact on British cultural life from the reign of Charles I onwards, and brings together some of the most magnificent paintings he produced during his years in Britain. It demonstrates his continuing visual legacy through portraits by artists from the 18th to the 20th century, including Sir Joshua Reynolds and John Singer Sargent. Karen Hearn, Curator at Tate Britain, will give a talk on the exhibition.
