David Barrie on The Art Fund

David Barrie the driving force behind the Art Fund since his appointment in 1992 will explore the fascinating issues raised by The Art Fund's traditional battle cry: 'saving art for the nation'. How does the Art Fund decide what to 'save'? Who are we saving it for and what are we saving it from? What counts as a great work of art? And why does any of this really matter? The talk will be illustrated with examples from The Art Fund's history, and will address the challenge raised by the sale of Titian's Diana and Actaeon by the Duke of Sutherland.
