Shipley Art Gallery

| Shipley Musuem, Gateshead

The Shipley has recently undergone a 650,000 redevelopment and this March saw the opening of the new Designs for Life Gallery. We will be given a private tour of the gallery which is home to over 300 objects made in many parts of the world over the past 2,000 years. It includes historical local Davidson's and Sowerby's glass and has a particularly good collection of 20th century ceramics. The gallery also boasts a spectacular collection of fine art, including William Irving's painting "The Blaydon Races". The annual selling exhibition, Christmas Present will have opened on the 16th November so this is an ideal opportunity to purchase workby sought after designers. Included are jewellery, ceramics, textiles and glass.
