Impressionism & Scotland Exhibition, Autumn Lecture.

Dr Francis Fowle will give an illustrated lecture about this exhbition
which explores the Scottish taste for impressionism in the last nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries, and its impact on two generations of artists in
Scotland. 'Impressionism' in this period, applied to artists as diverse as
Whistler, Corot, McTaggart and the Glasgow Boys. The exhibition includes works
by theses artists as well as Monet, Manet, Degas, Sisley, Pisarro, Renoir, Van
Gogh, Seurat, Cezanne, Gauguin, Toulouse-Lautrec and the Scottish
Dr Francis Fowle, the curator of the exhibition, gained her PhD at Edinburgh University and before returning to Edinburgh was a curator at Tate Britain. This lecture is brilliant as is the Exhibition, despite adverse criticism in the press, which finishes on Sunday the 5 October 2008.
