View: Dutch Portraits at the National Gallery

Following its independence from Spain in the 17th century, the Dutch Republic experienced an era of unpre-cedented wealth, resulting in the emergence of a middle-class elite who commissioned portraits to reflect their new-found status. Betsy Wieseman, curator of the exhibition, will give a brief introduction. The National Café will be open from 8 am for breakfast.
