Lecture: Queen of Fashion or Fashion Victim? The Life and Death of Marie-Antoinette

Marie-Antoinette was renowned for her extravagance and love of fashion. This lecture explores her life through the fashions she wore at the glittering court of the 1770s and 1780s, following the narrative through the turmoil of the French Revolution to her execution in 1793. Aileen Ribeiro is Professor of Art History at the Courtauld Institute, where she specialises in the history of dress.

A study visit to accompany this lecture will take place on Friday 18 May at the V&A.
