Study Afternoon: Manuscript Illumination at the British Library

This afternoon of talks and demonstrations on the subject of manuscript illumination includes tea and a private view of the British Library's manuscript collection. Peter Kidd, a curator at the British Library, will discuss the fascinating world of Northern European illuminated manuscripts in the early Middle Ages. Patricia Lovett, professional scribe and illuminator, and a Fellow of the Calligraphy and Lettering Arts Society, will then describe how these manuscripts were created, and give a demonstration of illumination and binding techniques.
