Power and Prominence: The Art of Periclean Athens

The statesman Pericles (c 495-429BC) was the dominant figure in Athens during a golden age of the city's culture. The period is famous particularly for the building and decoration of the Parthenon.

David Gill, classical archaeologist and a Senior Lecturer in Ancient History at the University of Wales, will discuss the monumental sculpture of this period.
