Connoisseurs and Collectors of Photography
Who were the connoisseurs and collectors of
photography in the 19th century? They include Queen Victoria and Prince Albert,
the poet and mesmerist Chancy Hare Townshend, the Second Earl of Craven, who was
also an ambitious amateur photographer, and Henry Cole, founding director of the
V&A. The lecturer is Mark Haworth-Booth, Visiting Professor of Photography
at University of the Arts, London and an honorary researcher at the V&A.
