The museum explores the development of Macclesfield as a market town and an important player in the silk industry.
Housed within the Macclesfield Sunday School built in 1814, the displays show the range of silk mills that thrived in the town. On display are collections and archives chronicling the Sunday School story along with a costume gallery showing the use of silk in fashion from 1800 to 1950, including displays of pattern book samples and a dressing up box.
