Housed in a magnificent Victorian building designed by architect John Hayward, the museum has diverse collections of both local and international importance.
RAMM won the Art Fund Prize 2012 for its magnificent multi-million-pound development project, which reinterpreted the museum's collection with cutting-edge curation.
The new displays aim to do more than represent RAMM's collections: they aim to stimulate thoughts and ideas, seek opinions, start conversations and encourage debate.
RAMM's collection consists of over one million individual objects and specimens from all across the world, organised around thematically to include displays of antiquities, ethnography, natural history and decorative and fine arts.
The café is is located in the middle of the museum and serves delicious homemade food, all made from locally sourced ingredients. The daily changing menu offers a wide selection for lunch, and also includes healthy snacks, coffee, and award-winning, loose-leaf tea.
