The museum is currently closed for redevelopment and is set to reopen in a new location in the centre of Ludlow in 2016.
Ludlow Museum is set to reopen in the historic Buttercross building. The new displays will feature recently acquired and conserved items, such as the Bitterley civil war coin hoard and a post-Roman gold ring. New interpretation will include audio-visual activities for visitors, who can learn about how the famous Victorian geologist Sir Roderick Murchison unravelled the story of Ludlow's rocks and made them internationally famous; Catherine of Aragon and her connection to Ludlow Castle; and the First World War as experienced by local soldiers. There are also recorded memories of Ludlow life in the 1950s.
