Jupiter Artland

A contemporary art park and gallery, showcasing work by leading sculpture and land artists.

In 1999 art collectors Robert and Nicky Wilson bought Bonnington House, a Jacobean manor set in an 100 acre estate, to live with their family. Nicky – a sculptor herself – had long dreamed of owning her own sculpture park, and with her and her husband's knowledge and connections to other artists, the couple decided to create a space for them to show their work in the grounds.

Jupiter Artland was a finalist for Museum of the Year 2016To find out why it made the shortlist, watch our short film:

Permanent collections

The park is home to 30 permanent works by eminent contemporary architect Charles Jencks, and artists Jim Lambie, Nathan Coley, Cornelia Parker, Anish Kapoor, Marc Quinn and Anthony Gormley. All the sculptures were created especially for Jupiter in response to the landscape, the design and location chosen personally by the artist.

Visitors to Jupiter Artland are given a map locating the installations, but there is no set route around the park. Instead the family encourage their guests to explore and discover as they go. The indoor spaces within Bonnington House are also open to the public, hosting temporary displays of sculptural work.

Visitor information

Refreshments are available at the onsite cafe, which is housed in its very own work of art – a vintage 1953 Silverstreak caravan. Visitors can also download the Jupiter Artland app for more in depth information on the family's art collection.
