Lee Lozano: Slip, Slide, Splice
10 March – 3 June 2018
Free to all
A timely reassessment of a major artist whose fall into relative obscurity was a work of art in itself.
Few artists have actively lived their art with such sustained commitment as Lee Lozano. A major figure in the New York art scene in the 1960s and 1970s, she created provocative paintings on both a tiny and vast scale, and conceptual ‘language pieces’ that took the form of instructions.
Acting on her works, General Strike Piece and Drop Out Piece, she systematically cut all ties with the art world until the end of her life.
This exhibition showcases work from across her career, including previously unseen notes and instructions, and offers an exciting opportunity to rediscover a truly remarkable artist.
