Virginia Woolf: An exhibition inspired by her writings
10 February – 29 April 2018
Discover how the writings of celebrated author Virginia Woolf, who spent much of her childhood in St Ives, has influenced modern and contemporary art.
The writer of Orlando, To the Lighthouse and The Waves has proven a lasting influence beyond the literary sphere, and this exhibition uses her work as a prism through which to explore feminist perspectives on landscape, domesticity and identity in modern and contemporary art.
Supported by an Art Fund Jonathan Ruffer curatorial grant, the exhibition brings together work by more than 70 artists working from 1850 to the present and tours later in 2018 to Pallant House, Chichester (26 May-16 Sep) and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge (2 Oct-9 Dec).
