Barbara Hepworth: Finding Form
9 February – 3 June 2018
Celebrating one of the country's most renowned sculptors, this exhibition explores the development of Barbara Hepworth’s work from the 1930s to the 1960s.
Bringing together a selection of works from a 30-year period of Barbara Hepworth’s career, this exhibition demonstrates her lifelong preoccupation with form.
Beginning with the human body and moving from the figurative to the abstract, the exhibition looks at how Hepworth chose to interpret the forms around her. Works on display come from collections including the Arts Council, British Council, The Whitworth, National Portrait Gallery and Tate.
A selection of lesser-known works in oil on board show Hepworth’s experimentation with geometric shapes and colour during the 1940s.
This is the first exhibition of works by Hepworth in Henley-on-Thames.
