Kate Malone: Inspired by Waddesdon
10 June – 16 October 2016
The artist has studied the gardens, collections and archive of the manor in order to create this new series of work.
Malone has drawn out specific details from Waddesdon's holdings of Sèvres porcelain, works on paper and passementerie (decorative tassles, braids and fringing) to inform her ceramic creations. She has also taken inspiration from life at the manor – for example the theatre of gourds and squashes that is constructed in Alice de Rothschild's 19th century private garden every autumn is reimagined in pottery.
