Pablo Bronstein is the latest contemporary artist to transform the Duveen Galleries.

Tragic Stage, 2011

The neo-classical space of Tate Britain’s Duveen Galleries are a perfect canvas for Pablo Bronstein, who is the latest artist to be invited to produce a new large-scale work for the space. His practice has long revolved around his fascination with pre-Modern European design, particularly Baroque. He creates beautiful drawings and performances that distort elements of 17th, 18th and 19th century architecture to create elaborate new structures and irreverent narratives.

Bronstein describes the work as ’a kind of inside-out journey through the building […] dancers will be choreographed to move up the space in an intertwining rope-like pattern to push you through from the south entrance to the north, though there won’t be any interaction with the audience’.
