Laura Ford: Seen and Unseen

Work from Ford’s early career is brought together with new sculptures at this dual-venue exhibition running across two sites in Cumbria.

Laura Ford describes her work as 'sculptures dressed as people who are dressed as animals', conceived of as a means by which to explore aspects of the human condition. Weeping girls, pacing cats, elephants dressed in nightwear – her anthropomorphic works are at once entertaining and disturbing.

This spring the sculptors’ imaginative creations are displayed simultaneously at Abbot Hall Gallery and Blackwell Arts & Crafts House.
