Winter Light at Waddesdon
11 November 2015 – 3 January 2016
Bruce Munro returns for his last year in residency, creating an immersive light art trail in the grounds of the manor.
The artist known for his immersive large scale light based installations has created an imaginative audio-visual piece for display at Waddesdon. Titled ..---...SOS, it comprises a series of glowing tents which have been situated around the garden; their flashing colours and shifting sounds are intermittently interrupted by an urgent Morse code distress signal.
Munro was inspired by disaster relief charity Shelterbox, and the work is a reminder of people and places throughout the world in need of help.
The light art will be illuminated from 4pm.
An additional son et lumière light show has been created for Waddesdon by Woodroffe Bassett design, bathing the façade of the house in rainbow colours every 30 minutes.
Two further light installations by Joanna Vasconcelos are also on display. Each of the 10 metre high candlesticks have been made from 574 magnum bottles.
