Scottish Art: People, Places, Ideas

More than 1,500 works spanning 350 years are used to explore the people, places and ideas that define Scottish art.

During its history the City Art Centre has held exhibitions of its permanent collection in various formats – the last in 2011 provided a chronological history of Scottish art. This summer a new selection covers four broad thematic areas: people, landscape, still life and abstraction. All are by Scottish artists or about Scotland.

Highlights include portraits put to paper by Allan Ramsay, Scottish landscapes captured by William McTaggart, still lifes studied by JD Fergusson, and abstract compositions from the imagination of Alan Davie.
